Fiscal Responsibility

Andrew County is one of few rural, agriculture-focused counties that has seen a population increase over the past two decades.
Regrettably, since we are sandwiched between St. Joseph and Maryville, we see much of our potential sales tax revenue flow to neighboring counties.
However, over the past few years, the county has been able to recapture some of that tax revenue through our County Use Tax.
The county has an obligation to partner with local businesses and municipalities to ensure quality infrastructure is in place to foster a good business environment for our citizens and community.
I am proud to say that through the hard work of the County Officeholders and the County Commission, Andrew County has realized a budget surplus, allowing us to allocate money to a rainy-day fund over the past several years.
Additionally, the county has been able to give significant raises and benefit increases to county employees. This is vital to the county’s efforts to retain and attract skilled employees in a very competitive job market.
As commissioner, I will continue prioritizing our local business climate by supporting the development of safe roads and bridges, an inviting tax environment, and top-of-the-line infrastructure to attract quality businesses to Andrew County.
