Energy Generation & Storage Projects

It is no secret that Andrew County is getting a lot of interest from companies venturing to develop wind and solar energy solutions.
There are many benefits to these proposed projects, including increased tax revenues for school districts and fire districts. However, after observing such developments in neighboring counties, we’ve seen that these projects can be very controversial.

These projects not only affect the property on which they are located, but they also impact neighboring, non-participating property owners. While I personally am not inclined to allow wind turbines or solar projects on my property, I respect my neighbor’s right to do what they think is in their best interest and that of their family and business.
I will do everything in my power as County Commissioner to safeguard not only the interests of the county but also the rights of property owners.
It must be noted that the County Commission is limited in its tools and capacity to address these issues since the county has not adopted (by a vote of the people) a planning or zoning ordinance for the commission to address the developments.
That being said, we do have the ability to address decommissioning and public road use issues related to energy projects.
